Why Pray

Pray is a powerful weapon that God has given us but many of us do not know how to use it effectively in our lives, the lives of others, or in our environment. For so long we learned or was taught just to pray mediocre prays, but in the times that we are living in it is critical that we as believers take our prayer life to another level. We have to learn to pray effectively by incorporating scripture and targeting our prayers to a specific thing or situation (a guided missile in the spirit if you will so I said ok God what is a missile design to do and when I looked it up it said it is a weapon designed to deliver and explosive warhead with great accuracy and speed). How does the missile find the specified target through homing device that uses a radar system for guidance to the specified target? Our homing device is the holy spirit and the word of God which guides us in targeting our prayers

In John 5:1-8 it talks about a great multitude of impotent, blind, withered people just sitting at the pool of Bethesda waiting on the moving of the water. Nobody new how to pray to help change their situation.

This is the current state of the church a bunch of impotent, blind withered people waiting on the moving of the water. What does water represent spiritually- the Holy Spirit’s ability to refresh us, quench our spiritual thirst, clean us, and bring forth life in us. The Word of God says in John 14:26 that gave us the Holy

Spirit and will teach us all things and bring all things back to our remembrance. So, we can ask the holy spirit to teach us to pray or give us what to pray so that our prayers will be effective.

  • Having a consistent prayer life will cause us to move from the realm of religion to having a true relationship with the father. (James 5:16 says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Effectual- producing or able to produce a desired effect

Fervent- passionate or intense feeling

So, when we pray it should produce a desired result then it is considered effectual

  • Consistent prayer has the power to change situations and circumstances. It is important for us to be in tuned with the Spirit so we have an unction or urge to pray for something or someone will not hesitate because it could be detrimental to whatever is going on. (give an example of my nephew when he was little)
  • Prayer gives us the power to speaks those things that are not into existence (Romans 4:17) Prayer is one of our weapons of war along with the word of God. God has set up his Kingdom in a way that we must consistently come to Him in a relationship, seek Him personally, and ask Him to be at work in us and our circumstances. The Lord wants us to continually invite Him into our lives, surrender to Him, and to seek His power.
